Gonzaga vs. Mississippi Valley State Game Preview

So the time has finally come:

The Start of College Basketball season. Gonzaga will take on a fairly weak SWAC team in Mississippi Valley State, but this game could be a first to show some of the talented freshmen (I'm not quite sure on Bol Kong) ... but we will see one of the better backcourt in the country this side of the Rockies.

Why am I looking forward to this game even though I think we will win by 40+ points? I have some reasons for ya:

1. Its the first game of the year.
2. Freshmen are showing their faces for the first time against real game competition.
3. We get to see what our froncourt will look like, and how strong they may be.
4. Its the game before we take on the #2 team in the nation. So we better tune up quick.

I am not the laziest guy in the world, so I did some research on MSVU. I already knew they went to the NCAA Tournament in 2008 when they took on UCLA and scored the lowest amount of points EVER in an NCAA Tournament game (29)...

But I wanted to know who and what they returned this year, from last years team that just missed the NCAA Tournament. What about MVSU? They return their entire team (Whom I think is going to the NCAA tournament) and most of these players are juniors. Experienced and know how to win a basketball game. MVSU is familiar with the NCAA tournament and such, so they can keep it close for a while, but like the SWAC has shown in several years, when they play a good team, they just don't stay competitive for long.

So I'll end this blog, and not rag on MVSU, because they will be very competitive in the SWAC and compete for the SWAC championship. I respect that. I like the little dogs. Just when they aren't facing my favorite team.

Gonzaga: 87
Mississippi Valley State: 44
